Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is a 6-8 week program. Participants attend 3 sessions a week and each session is 3 ½ hours. We offer morning, afternoon and evening programs, at 2 different locations so as to provide minimal disruption to patient’s daily lives.
The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is designed for individuals who are in need of further mental health symptom stabilization but do not require the structure of a full PHP program. (IOP) is a comprehensive treatment for adults who are struggling with overwhelming life events, emotional challenges and/or mood disorders.
IOP uses Dialectical Behavior Therapy, a cognitive behavioral approach, proven effective in helping individuals improve their overall life skills.
Groups are kept small (8-10 participants) and a comfortable, supportive environment that encourages growth and change is fostered.
Through Dialectical Therapy group members are assisted to make effective choices and challenge the distorted thinking that perpetuates suffering. They learn the basic skills of our four modules: Core Mindfulness, Interpersonal Effectiveness, Emotional Regulation and Distress Tolerance.
Advantages of intensive outpatient:
- Individual lives at home
- The individual may continue to go to work or school
- Individual and group therapy for the patient’s specific needs
- Multiple professional disciplines work with the patient and family
